What it is

The great white shark is the ocean's most iconic apex predator. It can reach over 6 metres in length and is capable of breaching completely out of the water when hunting.

Where it occurs

Temperate and subtropical oceans worldwide

Habitat: Coastal and offshore waters; particularly productive upwelling zones

Interesting fact

Great white sharks are warm-blooded — they can regulate their body temperature, giving them an advantage in cold waters.
