Underwater coral reef — marine fieldwork across 22+ countries

22+ Countries · Every Major Ocean

Global Expeditions

Three decades of marine fieldwork, exploration and underwater photography spanning the Caribbean, Atlantic, Mediterranean, Indo-Pacific and beyond.

Rowan Byrne has conducted marine fieldwork, research and photography across more than 22 countries, working in some of the world's most important and biodiverse marine environments.

From leatherback sea turtle research in Dominica to cetacean surveys in the Azores, coral reef assessments in the Indo-Pacific and marine mammal monitoring around the Irish coast, each expedition has contributed to a deeper understanding of ocean ecosystems and the species that depend on them.

The photographs, data and field observations gathered on these expeditions underpin Rowan's published research, conservation work and public education activities.
